‘Poker’ of Heriberto in a rout of the old Portugal

Rui Jorge’s team went to Vaduz to impose a rout of the old (9-0), with the Moreirense striker in the spotlight, to sign four goals.

The Under-21 National Team thrashed Liechtenstein 9-0 on Thursday and kept alive their dream of joining the Euro 2020 in Italy. In a total dominance match of Rui Jorge’s formation, Heriberto was the greatest figure, with four goals and a penalty conceded, converted by Diogo Gonçalves.

Portugal entered all gas and then in the first minute advanced on the scoreboard, through a self-goal by Graber, after a cross by Pereira Lage, who was another of the players in good plan in the Portuguese team.

Even before half an hour, Heriberto would begin to open the book. After a great cross from Bruno Costa to the second post, Pereira Lage watched the forward Benfica gave Moreirense and he did not forgive.

Already on top of the break, João Filipe, better known as Jota, decided to take a ‘rabbit’ from the hat and, from direct free, fired a ‘bomb’ that only stopped at the bottom of the net of Majer goal.

If the first part started well, the second part did not break the rule. Soon in the opening seconds, Heriberto emerged in the heart of the area increased the lead to 4-0. Without being able to have a ball, Liechtenstein was ‘watching’ the Portuguese game and, unsurprisingly, the fifth came. From the 11-meter mark, Diogo Gonçalves also added his name to the list of scorers.

And as there are no two without three, at 62 ‘, Heriberto would end up consuming the hat-trick, touching a primordial assistance of Diogo Gonçalves. A brilliant display of the young striker that this season has ‘turned’ in Moreira de Cónegos, to show service to Rui Jorge.

However, still a lot of ‘ink’ would run. Newcomers Diogo Jota and Gil Dias also left their mark, while Heriberto – who else ?! – closed the count, already in the discounts, thus guaranteeing the ‘poker’. With this win, Portugal now has 19 points, the second best attack of this qualifying round, with 29 goals scored, and next Tuesday has a meeting with Bosnia in Madeira.
