The UAARESuperior project from Politécnico de Santarém aims to create and implement strategies that facilitate the reconciliation of the sports career with the academic path of student-athletes, adapting the successful model of the High-Performance Support Units in Schools (UAARE) from basic and secondary education, to provide more tools that enrich the performance of young athletes in Portugal.
“This project promotes a more inclusive higher education system, which values and enhances the dual sports and academic careers of high-performance and high-level student-athletes, preparing them to achieve excellence in both areas,” says João Moutão. “The adhesion of Politécnico de Santarém to the High-Performance Support Units in Higher Education reinforces our commitment to providing a development environment that empowers our student-athletes for future challenges after their sports career, facilitating their natural integration into the job market and access to other opportunities,” he adds.
