The Cultural and Pedagogical Association ‘Ponte…nas ondas!’, which comes from completing 25 years of activity with the intangible heritage common to Portuguese and Galicians, launches a new project: CANTAMOS NÓS!
[dropcap]S[/dropcap]chools in the municipalities of the border of Galicia and Portugal are invited to participate in the project CANTAMOS NÓS! which will materialize in the edition of a CD book and a documentary starring students from primary and secondary schools along with people with intangible heritage who will also offer representative samples of their knowledge.
It is proposed that each school prepare, with the collaboration of musicians and teachers, a traditional musical theme to be reinterpreted and recorded live. At the same time, in each municipality, an expression of the municipality’s intangible heritage was recorded to include in the documentary.
Although the pandemic has changed the deadlines, schools have already confirmed their participation and are already working with the arrangements of musical themes that will be interpreted by students who can also participate with instruments. Galician and Portuguese musicians and artists will participate in the recordings together with the young people from the schools.
The recordings will be made in schools and municipalities by a professional team respecting all security measures and antiCovid protocols.
In 2005, ‘Ponte…nas ondas!’ promoted and edited the project “Meninos cantores”, in which 17 schools participated between Vigo and Porto and which had a great success. Performed at Casa da Música in a live show. On the site www.meninoscantores.com you can see some of the works and also an advance of what will be “CANTAMOS NÓS!”
With the help of Xacobeo 21 and schools that are close to some of the roads to Santiago, testimonies will be collected about the path as a space for dialogue and exchange.
