Pool stock sold out in Portugal since May

The high temperatures that have been felt since May caused the demand for swimming pools during this month to jump 4,300% compared to the previous year.

A study by the country’s largest price comparator, KuantoKusta, reveals a demand never seen before, driven mainly by confinement and the growing attention to improving outdoor spaces at home.

Without being able to respond to the surplus demand, and with the aggravating delay of the factories due to the pandemic, the supply of suppliers has been decreasing, and the stocks are exhausted.

The study also shows that July was a month with huge demand, with a highlight on July 5th to 19th – coinciding with the heat wave across the country. The category of accessories associated with swimming pools (stairs and covers) grew by 565.51% and products for treatment of these reached 460.70%.

At the top of the survey are swimming pools between 3 to 4 meters in length, with an average price of 190 euros.

As has already been verified, there is a greater concern by the Portuguese in making the exterior spaces of the house more pleasant ”, says Sara Sá, Marketing Director of the company.

All products related to the outdoors increased from barbecue (111.03%), lawnmowers and cleaning machines (780%), garden accessories (832.21%) and garden decoration (14%).

The area that concentrates the greatest demand is the North of Portugal (Porto, Vila nova de Gaia, Braga and Guimarães), where men from 25-34 years of age research more, despite being the age group between 35-44 who buy more.
