Portalegre and Guarda host festival dedicated to rock and blues

The cities of Portalegre and Guarda return to receive, on Friday and Saturday, the One Man Band Festival, dedicated to rock and blues and that brings together musicians from five countries.

The eighth edition of the festival, the “only” of its kind in Portugal, according to the promoters, will take place in the space café concert of the Center of Arts and the Spectacle (CAEP) of Portalegre and the Municipal Theater of Guarda, similar to what happened in 2017.

Joaquim Ribeiro, artistic director of CAEP, explained that the festival intends to show the “performance” on stage of a single musician, having as the “guiding thread” the musical genres of rock and blues.

In previous editions, the initiative has already passed, besides Portalegre, by Beja, Faro, Abrantes and Ponte de Sor.

“This festival was created in Portalegre by me eight years ago and is the only one of the kind active in the country,” said Joaquim Ribeiro.

For the cities of Portalegre and Guarda, located in the interior of the country, will perform musicians from Spain, France, Italy and Brazil, as well as Portugal.

On Friday, at CAEP, there will be Chuck Violence & His Oneman Band (Brazil), Banana Cósmina (Spain) and Portuguese musician Billy Lobster.

On Saturday it is the turn to take on the stage Chicken Diamond (France), Paul Demon (Italy) and Bones A One Man Band Experience (Portugal).

According to the organization, the musicians who perform on the first day of the festival in Portalegre play Saturday in Guarda, while all the artists who perform on Friday in the Guarda pass with their shows on Saturday, through the stage of CAEP .

“The expectation is always around the headlines. One day is the Brazilian Chuck Violence and the other the French Chicken Diamond,” said the artistic director of CAEP.

According to Joaquim Ribeiro, the two Portuguese projects, which have never passed through Portalegre, are also awaited with “expectation”.

The concerts begin at 10:00 pm and tickets in Portalegre and Guarda have a daily cost of three euros.
