Portugal was recognized as the Best World and European Golf Destination of 2017, at the 4th annual Gala of the World Golf Awards – celebrating and distinguishing excellence in golf tourism – held on November 26 in La Manga (Spain).
The integrated tourism experience, with good air and land access, hospitality, excellent sports and hotel infrastructure, adapted to the different profiles of athletes, and the good quality / price ratio of the destination, along with 300 days of solar exposure per year, are some of the factors identified as distinctive in the national offer.
With 90 golf courses that generate around two million annual returns – 82% of foreigners – Portugal annually receives 420,000 golf tourists, who generate 120 million euros in direct revenue and in turn contribute to attract new visitors .
The international tourism campaign “Can not Skip Portugal” and the activation of the brand during the Euro2016 won three Silver Awards in the categories Internationalization, Tactical Communication and Low Budget, of the Communication Effectiveness Awards, an initiative of the Portuguese Advertisers Association which recognizes excellence in communication and its ability to help achieve strategic objectives.
“Can not Skip Portugal” is the campaign launched at the beginning of 2017, with the aim of projecting the image of Portugal and increasing its reputation in international markets. Made up of four films, the campaign bets on the message that there is no way to pass next to a destination like this: authentic and unique, with so much to see, to taste, to feel and to experience, a reasoning that extends to all the communication of the Tourism of Portugal. An all-inclusive destination, which can be visited all year round (the films were fully recorded in December 2016), for all ages and with a greater offer than the more traditional destinations.
