Portugal beat Lithuania in the qualifiers for the European Handball Championship
The Portuguese selection of handball added the second victory in Group 4 of the second phase of qualification for the European Championship of 2022, beating Lithuania 34-26, in Vilnius.
The team led by Paulo Jorge Pereira, who on Wednesday had beaten Israel by 31-22, tries his second consecutive presence in the European finals, after the historic sixth place this year.
Left-winger Pedro Portela, scorer of five goals, and the pivots Daymaro Salina and Iturriza and full-back André Gomes, all with four, were the players in greater evidence in the Portuguese team, which still had Alfredo Quintana with decisive saves.
Portugal has four points, two more than the runner-up Iceland, while Israelis and Lithuanians have zero, with the top two in each group and the four best thirds qualifying for Euro2022 in Hungary and Austria.
