Portugal beat Albania 4-0 at the European qualifying Cup tournament in Estonia in 2020.
At Estádio do Fontelo, in Viseu, José Guilherme’s side scored by André Ferreira on 26 minutes, Herculano Nabian on 35, Joelson Fernandes on 53, and João Resende on 87 who set the final score.
This was the first game to reach the elite round, which the first two of each group have access to.
Portugal dominated their Albanian counterpart and scored just after 26 minutes by André Ferreira with a low shot. After 35 minutes, Herculano Nabian cut himself off, then fired wide just wide of the goal after passing the Albanian goalkeeper.
Albania tried to react by climbing, which left more room for Portugal and so ended the first half.
Back in the second half, Albania arrived for the first time in Portugal, forcing Valentino Rodrigues to a difficult defense, but the Portuguese dominance remained.
In the 53rd minute, Joelson Fernandes, who entered the second half, dodged several opponents and shot hard, scored the third.
The 4-0 goal was by João Resende and Rodrigo Gomes fired a shot from the right corner.
Portugal plays again on Saturday against Georgia at the João Cardoso Stadium in Tondela at 17:00 and then plays on November 19 in Viseu with Ukraine at 15:00.
