Portugal beats Georgia in the qualifiers for the European Volleyball Championship
The team coached by João José, 70th in the world ranking, defeated the group of East, six places above the table, after an hour and 13 minutes, by the partials 25-19, 25-15, and 25-16.
The Portuguese Amanda Cavalcanti and Júlia Kavalenka proved to be the best scorers of the challenge, both with 14 points, supported by Ana Vale’s 12, while Ann Kalandadze was the best concretizer of the Georgians, with 10.
Portugal have scored six points in four games and provisionally equaled second place in Group B Ukraine, who will face Sweden today, the undefeated leader, with nine, having an appointment with the East side for Saturday at 15:30 (12:30) in Lisbon).
Georgia, on the other hand, is fourth and last, with no points and no chance of qualification, after failing last weekend the inaugural tournament B in Matosinhos, due to positive tests for the new coronavirus, being punished with three defeats, all by 3-0.
