- The conference is the main stage for debate and exchange of experiences on the challenges and opportunities of the economy and digital transformation in Portugal;

Today, ACEPI – Digital Economy Association previewed the 2023 edition of the Portugal Digital Summit, the biggest event in the Economy and Digital Transformation in Portugal, which this year takes place, for the first time, in the north of the country and has as a guest country the United States of America. Between the 17th and 18th of October, Matosinhos will receive more than 150 national and international speakers to discuss the challenges and opportunities that digital creates in the various economic sectors and society in Portugal.
“AI: Powering Business Innovation & Digital Transformation” is the theme that gives the motto to the 2023 edition of the Portugal Digital Summit. The event will feature more than a hundred speakers in sessions spread over 3 stages: the “Leadership Stage” will main themes of Digital Transformation by nationally and internationally renowned speakers; in the “Disruption Stage”, the main and most recent concepts, technologies, methodologies and business models that are at the forefront of the digital economy and artificial intelligence will be analyzed; and, finally, in the “Masters Stage”, all the programming on E-Commerce and Digital Marketing will take place, and cases of success and good practices in Digital Transformation will be presented.
According to Alexandre Nilo Fonseca, President of ACEPI, “With the focus on Artificial Intelligence and its transformational impact on the economy, we will discuss emerging trends and key innovations, as well as analyze the current state of the digital economy in Portugal. This year, for the first time, we are going to the north of Portugal, with the United States of America as a guest country, a nation of global reference in digital transformation and technological advancement”.
Digital Summit integrates Portugal Digital Week’23
The Portugal Digital Summit’23 is an integral part of Portugal Digital Week’23, which will take place between the 16th and 20th of October 2023.
Putting the digital issue on the public agenda since 2003, Portugal Digital Week celebrates the digital economy and commerce in Portugal through different initiatives. Namely: on October 16th, the Annual Study of the Digital Economy and Society’23 will be presented, which analyzes the evolution of the digital economy in Portugal, in areas such as internet use by consumers, the presence of companies on the internet, and commerce. electronic; from the 17th to the 18th of October, the Portugal Digital Summit’23 will take place and the Navegantes XXI’23 Awards will be delivered; on October 19, the USA-Portugal Digital Roundtable will take place, an initiative in which executives from public and private organizations in Portugal and the USA will discuss the opportunities, challenges, and potential of digital transition and administrative modernization; and, finally, on October 20th, ACEPI will mark Shopping Day on Net’23, with promotions and discounts in different online stores and participating marketplaces.
Digital Commerce with strong expansion in Portugal
According to the latest edition of the “Study of the Economy and Digital Society in Portugal”, launched by ACEPI at the end of 2022, it is estimated that B2C e-commerce (amount purchased online by the Portuguese) will reach around 9 billion euros in 2023 and B2B electronic commerce (that is, that Portuguese companies sell to other companies and to the State) around 130 billion euros. The projections until 2026 are even more impressive: around 11 billion euros and around 155 billion euros in B2C and B2B e-commerce, respectively.
The ACEPI study analyzes the various indicators of the digital economy in Portugal, making it possible to assess the country’s maturity in this context. The indicators of that study can now be consulted more easily through its page at digitalemportugal.pt.
ACEPI also recently announced its integration into a consortium led by the Confederation of Commerce and Services of Portugal (CCP) to carry out the “Digital Commerce Accelerators”, a program included in the Recovery and Resilience Plan which has an allocation of a total of 55 million euros aimed at training micro, small and medium-sized companies in commerce, services, catering, and similar areas in their development and digital maturity.
The scope of this measure will cover tens of thousands of companies over the next two years and will have several phases. The digital commerce accelerators are responsible for carrying out a diagnosis of the digital maturity of each company, preparing an individual strategic plan, and supporting the acquisition of specific services and incentives within the scope of the Digital Transition Services Catalog.
This is another one of ACEPI’s main bets for the new three-year period since the Association will assume, together with CCP, AHRESP, and AEP, the constitution of 8 accelerators in the North Region, with an endowment to support companies from more than 11 millions of euros.
