Portugal will be represented by 23 athletes in the European Athletics Championships of the International Paralympic Committee (IPC), which will take place in Berlin between August 20th and 26th, and aims to achieve “five to seven medals”.
“A very positive result would be to win five to seven medals,” said José Luís Silva, technical coordinator of adapted athletics, noting that “major international events are increasingly competitive.”
The list of participants, released today by the Portuguese Athletics Federation, includes nine female athletes and 14 male athletes, among them 10 champions from Portugal.
The Portuguese team has nine athletes who recently participated in the European Athletics Championships of the International Federation for Athletes with Intellectual Disabilities (INAS), a competition in which Portugal won 19 medals.
In the last edition of the European Championships of athletics IPC, played in 2016 in Italy, Portugal won 12 medals: one gold, four silver and seven bronze.
