Portugal is one of the most represented countries in the 9th Macau Sound & Image Challenge, an international music and short film festival with 72 films and 11 music videos.
“A finalist list of 72 films was made up of 34 films, 34 fictions, 25 animations and 13 documentaries,” read the statement issued by Creative Macau, organizer of the festival, a selection made after receiving more than 4,600 nominations .
Most films come from candidates from Belgium, Brazil, Canada, Denmark, Spain, the United States, Malaysia, Portugal, the Czech Republic and Russia.
The Sound & Image Challenge International Festival is divided into two competitions: short films in the categories of Fiction, Documentary and Animation, and music videos.
To these awards, the organization decided to add new nominations this year: best director awards, best cinematography, best editing, best music, best soundtrack, best visual effects for short competition, and best song and best visual effects for the competition of music videos, which for the moment have no monetary value.
The organization received 4143 film candidatures and 666 music videos.
The grand jury will be chaired by one of the directors of the International Short Film Festival of Vila do Conde, Miguel Dias, director of information and programs of the Portuguese channels of TDM and by the producer and producer Detsky Graffam.
The finalist works will be presented from December 4 to 9 at the Dom Pedro V Theater in Macau.
