Portugal loses with Denmark (28-34)
Portugal lost to Denmark (28-34) in the fourth round of Group B of the Olympic Handball tournament. It was the Portuguese team’s third defeat in this, which is the first participation in the Olympic Games.
Current world champion and gold medal winner in 2016, Denmark soon won the match and only a great display by the Portuguese goalkeepers prevented a greater gap at half-time (19-20). In the second half, the Nordics confirmed their favoritism, led by Mikkel Hansen (9 goals), and added their fourth consecutive victory.
With this result, Portugal is in fourth place with two points and knows that a victory against Japan, the last classified with only defeats, is enough to progress to the round of 16. Denmark occupies the first position with eight points.
