Seven years after their visit to Portugal, at the 2016 edition of the Rock in Rio festival, Maroon 5 returned to start their European Tour at Algés Seaside Promenade, which will take them to Madrid, Barcelona, Paris, Berlin, and London.
The band led by Adam Levine brought the greatest hits to the Portuguese fans for an hour and a half of good pop, happiness, and a lot of joy, for the many, many fans who didn’t want to miss the concert. Songs like “She Will Be Loved”, “Payphone”, “Moves Like Jagger” and “This Love” were the motto of a lineup that gave the audience all the hits we know, with assistance dancing and singing at the top of their lungs to the theme after theme.
The American band, from Los Angeles, was formed in 1994, at the time Kara’s Flowers, conquered the world in 2002 with “Songs about Jane”, later on growing they released the albums It Won’t Be Soon Before Long in 2007, Hands all over in 2010, Overexposed in 2012, V in 2014 and Jordi in 2021.
It was just after 9:15 pm, the scheduled start time, when they took the stage of the future “home” of the NOS Alive festival, which begins in early July, and which will also be visited by The World Tour by Mötley Crüe & Def Leppard on June 23, that this energetic, hit-filled night kicked off with “Moves Like Jagger” followed by “This Love”, “Stereo Hearts” and “One More Night”.
Non-stop and always at a high pace Adam Levine was setting the pace with “Animals”, “Love Somebody”, “Harder to Breathe”, “Lucky Strike” and “Sunday Morning”, Adam did not stop and the massive stage with a “tongue” that took him from the golden circle fans to the rest provided excellent photos and videos, which to later remember.
“Payphone”, “What Lovers Do”, “Makes Me Wonder” and “I Wanna Be Your Lover” followed, a version of Prince’s theme, he also recalled “Heavy”, a music he recorded with PJ Morton, member of Maroon 5.
With the concert coming to an end, “Maps”, “Memories” and “Don’t Wanna Know” follow and finish, before the encore, “Daylight”, for those who arrived for the opening of doors, were, to hear and dance, in the selection of songs by MrMailbox, and then to hear Davina Michelle, who exploded on stage and warmed up for Maroon 5, the night was already long, but the audience wanted more and did not stop with “Just one more, just one more,” until Adam returned.
Adam Levine had prepared something special for this first concert of the Tour, “Won’t Go Home Without You” in acoustic format and even confesses that “I don’t remember the lyrics well” and adds “In the United States they don’t like it very much” and to ending “She Will Be Loved” and in apotheosis “Sugar”, a night not to be forgotten.
