Portugal loses to Serbia and is in the playoff (1-2)
The Portuguese football team suffered, in the eighth game, its first defeat by Serbia, when they fell 2-1 at Luz, a result that cost them direct qualification for the final phase of the 2022 World Cup.
At Estádio da Luz, in Lisbon, which had already been the scene of six Portuguese qualifications for major competitions, Portugal needed a little more than a minute to get ahead, by Renato Sanches, but still managed to avoid defeat.
Despite the early goal of the Portuguese, the Serbs wanted the victory more and it was after the 90th minute that the Balkan team achieved victory, pushing Portugal to the qualifying playoff, in a harsh reality that has been fruitful for the Portuguese.
Renato Sanches opened the scoring for the team led by Fernando Santos, who did little else during the match. Tadic equalized for the Serbs, in a move that Patricio could have done better, and Mitrovic ensured victory for the Serbs at the sound of the gong, who take home a million-dollar sum of one million euros that will be distributed to the entire team.
