Portugal second in Eurosurf

Portugal took second place in Eurosurf 2019, behind Italy.

In the European Surfing Championships held in Santa Cruz, Portugal only lost to Italy, which achieved three of the four possible individual victories.

Joao Dantas, European longboard runner-up, and Eduardo Fernandes, who was third in ‘open’, were today the Portuguese best ranked in the 2019 Eurosurf, after Francisca Veselko’s second place in women’s surfing.

With three individual wins out of four, Italy won the European title for the first time. Just like Wales intruding on individual accounts in the first place.

With Federico Nesti’s longboard wins, Francesca Rubegni also longboarding, and Claire Bevilacqua’s ‘gold’ in female surfing, and Francisca Veselko’s ‘silver’.

Already Portugal started badly, with Inês Martins elimination and so Dantas entered the water with more responsibility.

Dantas got a tube, unusual in the difficult conditions in which the battery was disputed, which added a wave worth 8.00. It was three tenths of Federico Nesti who won the title.

Only Jay Quinn managed to break the Italian dominance, to take the best against the German Leon Glatzer, and with Eduardo Fernandes, in the third position.
