Five thousand rapid diagnostic tests for covid-19 arrived in Angola today, from Portugal, and should be made available next week, after validation by the Angolan authorities.
The information was advanced by the Secretary of State for Public Health, Franco Mufinda, in the daily assessment of the evolution of the new coronavirus pandemic.
After validated by the National Institute for Health Research, the rapid tests will be used in target groups, that is, people who have had contact with passengers on flights from countries at risk.
The objective is also to extend the tests to health professionals and police officers, explained Franco Mufinda.
Angola has not registered new cases of covid-19 in the last seven days, with 19 positive cases identified so far, of which two resulted in death and five have recovered. There are still 420 people in institutional quarantine and eight were discharged today.
So far, 1,203 samples have been processed, with another 17 being processed.
