After three victories in the preliminary round, Iceland (25-23), Morocco (33-20) and Algeria (26-19), Portugal will have a tough test against Norway, in a match that could be decisive for qualifying for the quarter-finals.
The Portuguese team brings four points from the preliminary round, two more than the Nordic ones, and a victory would leave Portugal with four points of advantage, with Switzerland, in theory weaker, and France.
The two teams met in the preliminary round of Euro2020, with Portugal then losing to Norway, by 34-28, a meeting in the ‘hangover’ of the historic triumph over France.
Before the start of the main round, from which the top two finishers pass to the quarter-finals, Portugal and France have four points, two more than Iceland and Norway, while Algeria and Switzerland arrive without points.
