Portugal takes 17 medals, 7 gold, in the European athletics adapted

The Portuguese athlete Luís Gonçalves won today the silver medal in the 400 meters of class T12 in the European Championships of adapted athletics, bringing to 17 the medals conquered by Portugal in the competition, that finished in Berlin.

The national team finishes the competition of Berlin with seven gold medals, seven of silver and three of bronze, in a total of 17 climbs to the podium, indicated in a communiqué of the Paralympic Committee of Portugal (CPP).

On Saturday, Sandro Baessa won the gold medal in the 800 meters T20, becoming a two-time champion of the specialty, on which day the Portuguese team achieved yet another three silver medals: Érica Gomes, in the long jump T20, Carolina Duarte, in the 100 meters T13 and Odete Fiúza in the 1,500 meters T11.

In the competition held in Berlin, Carina Paim (400 meters T20), Sandro Baessa (400 and 800 meters T20) and Mário Trindade (100 meters T51 / 52) won gold, Carolina Duarte (100 and 200 meters T13), Miguel Monteiro (F40), Erica Gomes (long jump T20) and Odete Fiúza (1,500 meters T11) won silver and Carlos Freitas (400 meters T20), Luís Gonçalves (100 and 200 meters T12) and Maria Graça Fernandes (400 meters T38) and bronze.
