Portugal trashes Latvia at the start of the qualifyings
The Portuguese futsal team thrashed Latvia 4-0 in the opening round of Group 8 of the 2020 Main World Cup qualifying round at the Viseu Multiuse Pavilion.
The European champions, who had already won 2-0 at half-time, won with goals from Cardinal (six minutes), Pedro Cary (eight), Márcio Moreira (32) and Bruno Coelho (39) to equal the Czech Republic (3 -0 to Germany) leading the group.
Portugal will play again on Friday at 21:00 against Germany.
The top two finishers from each of the eight groups qualify for the Elite Round, which qualify for the final in the first of each of the four groups and place the second in a play-off, which defines the remaining two European vacancies. .
The 2020 World Cup will take place in Lithuania, specifically in the cities of Kaunas, Klaipeda and Vilnius, from 12 September to 4 October.
