Portugal decides today with Russia the victory in group 6 of qualification, in the game to dispute in Greenock, Scotland.
The Portuguese U-17 team secured a place in the UEFA European Championship, even before they played their last match today, in a scenario where they are at least one of the second best.
Portugal is set to play in Group 6 at Russia’s Greenock in Scotland at a time when both sides lead the group with six points from two victories.
The qualification for the European in the Republic of Ireland is, however, guaranteed, after today they have finished Group 1 and Group 4, with Austria and Germany, second placed, having no more than four and five points, respectively.
In Group 1, Austria was thrashed by Italy, winner of the ‘poule’, 4-1, while Germany won, but finished the elite round behind Iceland.
The winners of the eight groups and the seven best runners-up (counting results with the first and third) are cleared for the European.
The final phase of the European Championship will run from 03 to 19 May in the Republic of Ireland.
