Portugal beat Hungary and finish the qualifying phase in first place

After having secured the qualification, the selection led by Hugo Silva defeated Hungary, 3-0, by the partials of 25-15, 25-20 and 25-22, in Matosinhos.

Portugal won Group G with 17 points, four more than Belarus, which today beat Norway 3-0 (25-19, 25-15 and 25-10).

The ‘quinas’ team qualified for the second consecutive time for the first time, with the best result being fourth place in the debut, in 1948, in a competition with six teams, followed by seventh place in 1951, a 10th in 2005, the 14th in 2011 and the 20th of 2019.

The 2021 European Championship, the 32nd edition of this event, will take place from September 1st to 19th in four different countries: Poland, Czech Republic, Estonia and Finland.
