Portuguese nominated for the Alternative BD Award

‘Pentângulo’ is on the list of 24 candidates from a dozen countries (France, Portugal, Sweden, Finland, Taiwan, Switzerland, Italy, Brazil, China, and Japan) and from four different continents, at the 40th edition.

‘Pentângulo’, which brings together BD students and teachers from Ar.Co – Center for Art and Visual Communication, results from a partnership between that institution and the Chili com Carne publishing house and was already among those nominated for the Alternative BD Award at Angoulême comic strip last year.

Three issues of ‘Pentângulo’ have already been published, the third of which in 2019.

The candidates for the Alternative BD Prize, awarded since 1982, are all anthologies, which include several authors, edited by non-professional structures. Among the candidates, there are also two Brazilian publications: ‘Café Espacial’ and ‘CWB’.

The winning publication will receive a scholarship worth a thousand euros, awarded by the Union of Alternative Editors, as well as the possibility to participate in the 2022 edition of the festival.

The 48th edition of the Festival of Comics of Angoulême takes place between 24 and 27 June in the French town that gives it its name.
