Portuguese app alerts farmers about climate change
One of the areas with a strong focus is agriculture, with farmers being able to monitor their plantations and obtain information in real time.
The University of Minho announced the project “Climalert” which includes a mobile application and a web platform to alert farmers about climate change.
a web platform to support decision making in the water sector is being designed in order to plan scenarios for agricultural exploitation and water use in the medium and long term. The project brings together partners from Portugal, Spain and Germany and counts on 845 thousand euros from the European Union, until 2021.
The “Climalert” also involves the Portuguese Institute of the Sea and the Atmosphere (IPMA), the Catalan Institute for Water Research (Spain) and the Helmholtz Environmental Research Center (Germany).
