The Portuguese book “Plasticus Maritimus”, by biologist Ana Pêgo and writer Isabel Minhós Martins, illustrated by Bernardo P. Carvalho, is among the candidates for the French book Ecological Youth 2021, whose jury is composed of children.
The French edition of ‘Plasticus Maritimus, an invasive species’ is one of six nominated in the Petit Felipé category, of books for children aged eight to eleven, according to information available on the official website of the Festival of the Book and the Ecological Press ( Felipé), which, since 2004, has awarded the Ecological Youth Book Award.
After making a selection of books, the Felipé team assembles a jury composed of children [aged between seven and 12 years old] who choose the winners.
As of 2019, the prize started to be awarded in two categories: Petit Felipé (eight-eleven years old) and Tout Petit Felipé (six-eight years old).
Edited in 2018 by Planeta Tangerina, ‘Plasticus Maritimus’ is an informative book on the environment and an exploration guide, for readers who also want to be more active in the defense of nature, written by biologist Ana Pêgo, together with Isabel Minhós Martins, and illustrated by Bernardo P. Carvalho.
