Portuguese brandy wins gold in international contest
Of national origin, the Rumar Wine Brandy is an irreverent drink that perfectly portrays the Portuguese tradition and spirit, and that went across borders to conquer, not an empire, but a prize in one of the largest design contests in the world. Rumar was thus distinguished at Graphis Design Annual 2020 with the gold award in the ‘Packaging’ category.
This award is the result of a joint effort between OM Design, the Portuguese design agency that has won several design awards, including a Red Dot Design Award, and Rumar producer LostFlavour. This is the second time LostFlavour has won a prestigious design award after being awarded a Master Packing by The Spirit Business 2017 magazine for the design of its other product – the premium wine brandy Mavem.
The main inspiration for Aguardente Rumar’s identity was the joy and hospitality of the Portuguese people, presented through the colors, shapes and elements chosen. The facades of the building, the tiles and the characteristic architecture of Northern Portugal, namely Porto, as well as the ‘Portuguese Riviera’ – the Estoril Coast – are also portrayed in Rumar, whose name symbolizes the moment when the plans for the future are made. It is also possible to identify the propeller of an aircraft that represents a true journey around an adventure and a drink that reflects what we do, like and share, always among friends.
Made from Portuguese wines matured over two years, in two different oak barrels – some American, giving it notes of vanilla and softness; other French, responsible for fruit aromas and a touch of spice – this is a 21st-century wine brandy, specially designed for the best moments of conviviality, sharing and relaxation. It can be consumed to your taste, either at room temperature or with the bottle cold for the hottest summer nights.
