Portuguese Custard Tarts – Pastel de Nata

These super yummy Portuguese Custard tarts (Pastel de Nada) are easier to make than you expect.

I likened it to making mini custard pies.

Ingredients

  • This recipe makes 18 tarts
  • One sheet puff pastry dough
  • 3 cups (710 ML) milk
  • 7 egg yolks
  • 1 1/4 cups (280 g) sugar
  • 4 tbsp plain flour
  • 1/2 a lemon peel
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 1 tsp Vanilla extract
  • 1 tsp salt
  • Cinnamon powder – for garnish
  • Bake at 425 Fahrenheit (218 Celsius) for 30 minutes
