Portuguese in China donate masks to the National Health System

The masks were delivered to the Portuguese embassy in Beijing and will be sent, along with other orders from the Portuguese government, on a flight chartered by the state.

The masks were purchased from a producer in southeastern China, at a time of strong competition for access to material and even after the Chinese authorities had imposed stricter quality requirements on the country’s exporters, following defective products imported by several European countries.

In total, the Portuguese raised 70,600 yuan (more than 9,000 euros), a figure that also counted on the contribution of Chinese citizens.

FPP2 masks have a minimum efficiency of 94% in particulate filtration, the second-highest level among respiratory protection masks.

The lack of medical equipment, in the face of the sudden increase in patients from Covid-19 in intensive care, has led to dramatic situations in several countries and has resulted in infections among health workers.
