Portuguese men’s fashion strengthens in Paris
The designer Hugo Costa returns to the official calendar of the Paris Fashion Week on Tuesday, and Portugal is present with 30 national brands of designers, industrialists, footwear and jewelry, gathered in a single space, until Friday.
The inspiration for this collection of Hugo Costa, a designer who focuses on male streetwear and who has been gaining more and more importance in his presentations in the French capital, comes from South Korea, more precisely the Haenyeo women, apnea divers who have created a semi-matriarchal society in that country.
“At a time when there is so much talk about equality, it seemed pertinent to reinforce the reversal of roles,” said Hugo Costa.
The Portuguese designer will present his collection at Le Marais, the fashion district par excellence, and will choose, for spring-summer 2020, vibrant and strong colors, with classic textures as opposed to some technological fabrics, such as the waterproof and 3D network.
Also on Tuesday, the Portuguese fashion begins a three-day show in the French capital that will bring 30 designers and national brands to this Fashion Week.
This event, called “Showcase Portugal”, is promoted by the Center for Textile Intelligence (CENIT) and the National Association of Industries and Apparel and Confection (ANIVEC) and is co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund.
“Although focused on clothing and fashion, this collective action has the added value of including other elements of presentation in a perspective of complementary and synergistic promotion with other sectors fundamental to the Portuguese economy,” said Luís Hall Figueiredo, administrator of CENIT.
Among the clothing brands present in Paris are Baccus, Frenken, Impetus, Enemy, Maria by Fifty and the tailoring of Crialme and Unilopes, as well as designers Constança Entrudo, David Catalán and also Hugo Costa.
The accessories will include brands like Almavina, Antonio Handmade Story and Branco_Chá.
The “Showcase Portugal” will run from 18 to 20 June, and its inaugural event will count on the participation of the Secretary of State for Internationalization, Eurico Brilhante Dias.
