Portuguese show distinguished at YAMAwards

Murmuratorium ‘, a musician-theatrical show that involved the participation of local school-age populations and, at the same time, an installation of free and informal exploration, was nominated in the categories of Best Opera and Best Participatory Project of international productions awards for children and youth audiences, YAMawards 2020, also being a candidate for the Audience Award.

Artistic creation by Paulo Maria Rodrigues, professor at the Department of Communication and Art at the University of Aveiro and resident composer at the Companhia de Música Teatral, the ‘Murmuratorium‘ resulted from a co-production between this company, Teatro Aveirense and Musiquim – Associação Musicoteatral dos Açores.

The YAMawards also distinguished ‘Tickle‘, a co-production of the National Opera of Denmark and the Ballet of Luxembourg, in the category of Best Small Ensemble for Young Audiences; “Klangen av klima“, by The Cultural Schoolbag and the Oslo Philharmonic, in Norway, as Best Ensemble for Young Audiences.

The prize for Best Opera for Young Audiences was awarded to the Spanish production “La isla“, by Nuria Nuñez-Hierro, with libretto Rafael R. Villalobos, who also won the Audience Award.

The YAMAwards are an initiative of JMI, with the European Network for Opera, Music & Dance Education (RESEO), and the public support of the Belgian State for the sector (Belspo) and the Creative Europe Program.
