Braga Tourism Office hosts Wrought Iron exhibition

Until next Sunday, 29 August, the Braga Tourism Office hosts the exhibition of wrought iron handicrafts by Manuel Ferreira Machado. Best known for Pinha, a nickname he inherited from his father and grandfather, the artisan was born in Celeirós, Braga, in 1962, and since the age of 15 he started working iron in his father’s workshop.

Currently, he associates commercial work with this art and a very particular taste for recycling various materials, creating unique pieces that recall various aspects of civil and religious society. Specially dedicated to wrought iron handicrafts, combining other materials such as recovered old wood, stone or glass.

Manuel Machado tem representado Celeirós e o Concelho de Braga, marcando presença em várias feiras de relevância a nível nacional. Como reconhecimento pelo seu trabalho já conquistou vários prémios e menções honrosas, onde se destaca o prémio inovação na mostra de artesanato de Barcelos, em 2006, com a peça “Cristo Marinho”.
