Sintra beaches with increased surveillance before and after the bathing season
The stunning beaches of Sintra will have increased surveillance before and after the summer season, ensuring the safety of bathers with the presence of lifeguards.
This measure, approved by the Sintra Municipal Council, led by Basílio Horta, aims to prevent risky situations, especially at a time when the sea continues to present adverse conditions, but when the inviting temperatures attract many visitors to the municipality’s beaches.
The protocol, established with the Sintra Municipal Beach Association, covers Praia Grande, Adraga, Maçãs, Magoito and S. Julião. During the pre- and post-bathing season periods, these beaches will have two to three lifeguards to ensure the protection of visitors.
Pre-season surveillance will take place on the weekends in May (3 and 4, 10 and 11, 17 and 18, 24 and 25, and 31 May), while post-season swimming will extend to the weekends from 20 September to 12 October (20 and 21, 27 and 28 September, 4 and 5, 11 and 12 October).
