The company ADN de Palco, whose motto is “make shows for children thinking about adults”, premieres on Saturday in Montemor-o-Velho, a musical adaptation of Sophia de Mello Breyner Andresen’s ‘The Girl from the Sea’.
“This is a very special production because it is destined to celebrate the centenary year of the writer,” said Filipe Lima, director of the company based in Santo Varão, Montemor-o-Velho, Coimbra district.
The DNA of the Stage was born a year ago with the mission of “making shows for children that leave adults to think,” explains Filipe Lima, who is also an actor and director of the company, which has a fixed cast of five elements.
“The choices are always influenced by our motto. We present shows that are not totally childish or too sober,” explains the company’s director, composed by actors Beatriz Nogueira, Filipe Lima, Teresa Roxo, Dinis Ludgero and Joana Biscaia. “young entrepreneurs committed to fighting the lack of interest and work in the theater in Portugal”.
The play, explains the director, “was adapted to musical theater in a didactic and magical version dedicated to childhood that takes us to the mysterious universe of the Sea in the imaginary of Sophia de Mello Breyner Andresen.”
The play comes on the scene on Saturday at 9:30 p.m., at the company’s headquarters in Santo Varão. The entrance ticket costs five euros for adults and four for children. The company accepts markings for shows throughout the country by calling 910 031 365.
