Camões Award, Pepetela is the Author of the Month at Lello Bookstore
The author of a panoply of works on contemporary Angola is present at the World’s Most Beautiful Bookstore, on November 15, at 9 pm. Session counts the moderation of journalist Sérgio Almeida.
In another celebration of Portuguese literature, Lello Bookstore presents the renowned Angolan writer Pepetela as the Author of November. On the 15th of November, at 9:00 pm, the Most Beautiful Bookstore in the World will receive a special session where readers and admirers of the author’s work will have the opportunity to hear and learn more about the history and contribution of Pepetela to Portuguese-language literature and culture.
Pepetela, the stage name of Artur Carlos Maurício Pestana dos Santos, stands out for its engaging writing and social criticism, where it reflects mainly on the history and challenges of Angola, such as the struggle for independence and social inequality. With a vast literary production, including works such as Mayombe, Predators and The Generation of Utopia, Pepetela is one of the most influential authors of contemporary Angolan literature, having been awarded the Camões Prize in 1997.
