The 2022 edition of the Best Of Wine Tourism awards is concluded, with the attribution of the global prize in the Douro/Porto and Vinhos Verdes regions to Ventozelo Hotel & Quinta.
Awarded in the “Architecture and Landscape” category, in the first phase of this competition, the development was now distinguished, in the final vote held in Mainz, Germany, as the big winner for the Douro/Porto and Vinhos Verdes regions.
“Ventozelo Hotel & Quinta is not just a hotel. It is, above all, a farm, used to welcoming everyone who arrives there with hospitality, and that invites you to enjoy the superb landscape and discover the various restored spaces that preserve the simplicity of the roots of the most traditional Douro farms“, says the website of Great Wine Capitals Global Network – International Network of Capitals of Great Vineyards, promoter of these awards.
Located in Ervedosa do Douro (São João da Pesqueira), the Ventozelo Hotel & Quinta integrates the restricted lot of ten global winners of the Best Of Wine Tourism 2022 awards.
In addition to the establishment representing the Douro/Porto and Vinhos Verdes regions, the following were distinguished: Penfold’s Magill Estate (Adelaide, Australia); Wineries Real Winery (Bilbao, Spain); Château Guiraud (Bordeaux, France); Creation Wines (Cape Town and Cape Winelands, South Africa); Adrian & Diego Mathier Nouveau Salquenen SA (Lausanne, Switzerland); Weingut Braunewell (Mainz, Germany); Bodega Los Toneles-Abrasado (Mendoza, Argentina); Charles Krug (San Francisco – Napa Valley, USA) and Zýmē (Verona, Italy).
“This year’s edition of the Best Of Wine Tourism collected 447 applications and the caliber was once again exceptionally high”, stressed the organization.
This competition rewards companies providing wine tourism services for the excellence of their facilities and services, in categories such as accommodation, wine restaurants, architecture and landscape, art and culture, innovative wine tourism experiences, wine tourism services, and sustainable wine tourism practices.
The Great Wine Capitals Global Network – International Network of Capitals of Great Vineyards, made up of cities recognized worldwide for their wines and wine regions, aims to promote wine tourism in these areas, encouraging economic, academic and cultural development in their community, through exchanges and joint projects. It is up to the Municipality of Porto to officially represent Porto and its regions in this context.
