Prime Video reveals the first images of Cassandro, the original biopic starring Gael García Bernal. The film will premiere September 22, 2023 exclusively on Prime Video in over 240 countries and territories worldwide as part of a Prime membership.
Cassandro tells the story of Sául Armendáriz, a professional gay wrestler from El Paso who gained worldwide fame after creating the character of Cassandro, the “Liberace da Luta Livre”. In the process, he takes a drastic turn in the traditionally masculine world of wrestling, as well as his own life.
The cast also includes names like Roberta Colindrez, Perla De La Rosa, Joaquín Cosío, and Raúl Castillo. Cassandro is directed by Roger Ross Williams, written by Roger Ross Williams with David Teague and Julián Herbert, and produced by Gerardo Gatica, Todd Black, David Bloomfield, Ted Hope and Julie Goldman.
