The first scene of the new season reflects the structure of the bestselling epic saga The Wheel of Time written by Robert Jordan, on which the original Prime Video series is based, and where at the end of each book Jordan adds a chapter from the next book. In addition, an additional reference was also made to the inspiration of the series, as the first scene is based on one of the fan-favorite prologues “In the Shadow”, which begins the second book of the saga, The Great Hunt, on which it is mainly based. this new season.
The second season of The Wheel of Time also builds on some elements of the third book, THE DRAGON REBORN. The series was filmed in the Czech Republic, Morocco, and Italy, and stars Roamund Pike (Perdida, I Care a Lot) as Moiraine Damodred, Daniel Henney (Criminal Minds) as Lan Mandragoran, Zoë Robins (Power Rangers Ninja Steel) as Nynaeve al’Meara, Madeleine Madden (Dora and the Lost City) as Egwene al’Vere, Marcus Rutherford (Obey) as Perrin Aybara, Dónal Finn (SAS Rogue Hereos) as Mat Cauthon, and Ceara Coveney (Young Wallander) as Elayne Trakand. The Wheel of Time is co-produced by Amazon Studios and Sony Pictures Television Studios.
To whet your appetite for the new season, these are the five things that are important to remember from the first season of The Wheel of Time:
- The quest for the Reborn Dragon begins in Two Rivers.
- The villagers are separated on the journey.
- A self-proclaimed Dragon Reborn is found, but it is a fake.
- The party assembles in Tar Valon and Moraine leads them to the place where the Dragon Reborn is to be revealed.
- Rand fulfills the prophecy as the Dragon Reborn and fights what we think is the Dark One in the Eye of the World, breaking the seal and anticipating an even greater war to come.
About The Wheel of Time
Based on Robert Jordan’s fantasy book series The Wheel of Time, the eponymous series tells the story of a humble village boy, Rand al’Thor (Josha Stradowski, Gran Turismo), who discovers that he is the Dragon Reborn, a dangerous figure in history who is destined to save the world… or destroy it. Desperate to protect it from the Darkness, an army of powerful sorcerers must deal with growing power and madness. The wheel of time turns and the Last Battle approaches. In season two, new and old threats seek out the friends of Dois Rios, now scattered across the world. The woman who found and guided them does not have the power to help them, and now they must find new forms of strength. In each other or in themselves. In the Light… or in the Dark.
