Producer Luís Urbano distinguished with Eurimages award

Invited this year to join the United States Academy of Cinema, which awards the Oscars, Luís Urbano was one of the founders of the Curtas de Vila do Conde festival and the producer O Som e Fúria.

Miguel Gomes, Sandro Aguilar, Ivo M. Ferreira and Ira Sachs are some of the directors that Luís Urbano has worked with. In an unusual year due to the covid-19 pandemic, the European Film Academy decided to distribute the 33rd edition of the European Film Awards throughout this week, with daily announcements of the winners in online-only sessions.

The films ‘Tio Tomás, the accounting of days‘, by Regina Pessoa, and ‘Past Perfect’, by Jorge Jácome, were nominated for the best European short film, but the prize was awarded today to Lasse Linder, for ‘All cats are gray in the dark’.

On Friday, the winners will be revealed in the categories of best comedy and best animated feature film, in which the film ‘Klaus‘, by Spanish director Sérgio Pablos, and whose technical team counted on the participation of the Portuguese Sérgio Martins, in the animation director, and Edgar Martins, in the script department.

Some of the most relevant categories are reserved for Saturday, namely the awards for best European film and best director.

In the category of best film, they are named ‘Another Round’, by Thomas Vinterberg, ‘Corpus Christi’, by Jan Komasa, ‘Martin Eden’, by Pietro Marcello, ‘The Painted Bird’, by Václav Marhoul, ‘Undine‘, by Christian Petzold, and ‘Berlin Alexanderplatz’, by Burhan Qurbani, and starred by the Portuguese-Guinean Welket Bungué.
