Producer and DJ, ANNA, who now lives in Lisbon, announces new album, “Intentions”

Electronic music producer and DJ ANNA announce her first ambient album, “Intentions”, which invites the listener on a journey of spiritual transformation through sound, and hits stores on May 19th. The album is a unique encounter where the spiritual side of ANNA and the electronic music side come together.

ANNA has just joined Mercury KX, joining inspiring artists such as Ólafur Arnalds, Isobel Waller-Bridge, and Erland Cooper. Cerys Weetch of Mercury KX says: “ANNA’s powerful story gave us pause. She is truly a world-renowned songwriter, producer, and artist and we have only scratched the surface of what is yet to come.”

Alongside this news, the Brazilian DJ and producer based in Lisbon release the first single from the album, “Receiving”, which features the legendary ambient pioneer Laraaji.

“Intentions” is the result of ANNA’s journey of self-realization – opening her mind and forever altering her creative process, which sees her shift from heavier, dancefloor-driven productions to ambient sensibilities. An immersive meditation experience, the album comes with a special listening guide written by ANNA, inviting the audience to set an intention for each track.

ANNA says of the album: “INTENTIONS captures the purest desire for the universal power of love. It springs from a deep well of love that exists within me and an enduring appreciation for all that we call ‘life’”.

“Intentions” should be experienced as a journey of healing and growth. Recorded at ANNA’s Anaweh Studio, the album is a melodic and expansive soundscape that fuses with sound healing techniques, dance beats, binaural beats, and ANNA on flute and synthesizer, thereby channeling her emotions. The disc also includes collaborations with legendary ambient pioneer Laraaji, contemporary classical and spiritual music giant East Forest, as well as remixes from techno producer Max Cooper and Ivor Novello Award-nominated and Grammy-winning musician Jon Hopkins.

ANNA has always been interested in spirituality and has used meditation as a tool to re-center, but it has never been her main focus. These days, following other forms of spiritual and meditative practice – including transcendental meditation, Vipassana training, and in shamanic energy healing – she feels freer to create and express real creativity, starting to experience things and music in a slightly different way. ANNA discovered a passion for classical and ambient music after opening herself to a more contemplative and loving lifestyle. In fact, “Intentions” started with ANNA experimenting with sounds and frequencies to use as a tool in her meditations and contemplative moments. Using pianos and flutes; and sound healing techniques, ANNA listened to these works – soundscapes for self-realization – as she explored the world. The outside world, of course, but also the inside. On “World Sleep Day” in 2022, ANNA teamed up with Endel to create an AI-powered soundscape to help her make a smooth transition to deep sleep and also to help her with anxiety. It was entitled “The Spring of Dreams”. It was an early indication of what would become the album “Intentions“.

With a deep love for music from an early age, having started DJing at the age of 14, at his father’s discotheque, in the interior of São Paulo, today’s success took two decades to be conquered. ANNA was – and continues to be – the most in-demand techno superstar. Acclaimed by leading dance music publications including DJ Mag, Beatportal, and Mixmag, it’s no wonder that ANNA has performed at some of the most highly regarded clubs and festivals in the world. Also admired by her peers, ANNA received an invitation to remix “Howler” by Martin Gore and collaborated with East Forest.

ANNA has over 48 million streams on Spotify alone. She has performed in Movement Detroit, Tomorrowland, DC10, and Coachella, but has also performed for BBC Radio 1 Essential Mix and played a live-streamed set for Cercle, viewed over 3.6 million times. With her first ambient album, ANNA proves once again that her musical creativity has no limits.
