The Blue Flag 2021 Program is back on the beaches of Porto, this summer under the theme “Biodiversity Recovery”. The initiative aims to make children between 6 and 10 years old aware of the risks that biodiversity faces if environmentally responsible behavior is not adopted.
The activities, promoted by the municipal Civil Protection in partnership with the municipal company Águas e Energia do Porto and the Water Pavilion, “allude to the urgent need to preserve ecosystems and prevent the risks to which they are exposed, such as forest fires or pollution. The emphasis will always be on preventive measures because the aim is to have a culture of safety for the entire city”.
The actions have already passed through the beaches of Molhe, Pastoras, and Castelo do Queijo and are now destined for Praia do Homem do Leme, on the morning of July 22nd.
In an atmosphere of celebration and joy, children are invited to learn serious things while playing, because “a culture of safety is built every day”, emphasizes Civil Protection. It should be noted that the restrictions on face-to-face contacts imposed in the fight against Covid-19 affect the number of children to be involved, as well as the interaction between them. All prevention measures are, of course, respected
