Cultural program for the 25th of April at Quinta dos Franceses, in Seixal
between the 24th and 27th
From April 24th to 27th, Quinta dos Franceses Park, in Seixal, will host a cultural program full of unique initiatives alluding to April 25th, 1974.
Paulo Silva, Mayor of Seixal, says: “We intend to reach audiences of all ages, reaffirming that in Seixal, the ideals of April remain very much alive, ensuring that new generations continue to value freedom and social justice. I invite all citizens to enjoy these moments full of symbolism and emotion!”
The night from April 24th to 25th, in Seixal, will be filled with special moments that will be experienced in the Quinta dos Franceses Park. At 9:30 pm, this noble space will feature musical performances by Sérgio Godinho & A Garota Não, two unavoidable names in Portuguese music who promise to provide moments of great symbolism and emotion. At midnight, there will be the traditional fireworks display, which will include laser beams to the sound of «Grândola, Vila Morena», one of the timeless protest songs, originally composed and sung by Zeca Afonso. The night ends with a performance by one of the greatest artists of today, Ivandro, with hits such as «Lua», «Moça» and «Como Tu».
On April 25th, a holiday, at 9 pm, the show A Liberdade will take place, commemorating World Dance Day, by groups from the sports association movement who will perform demonstrations of various dance classes.
On Saturday the 26th, at 9:30 pm, there will be a show with the bands of the philharmonic societies União Seixalense and União Arrentelense, with the participation of musicians Anabela and Ricardo Mestre, which combines the sound of the philharmonic bands with the melodic voices of these two artists, promising an unparalleled show. Anabela, a singer and actress in Portuguese musical theatre, has released eight albums, won two important Portuguese music awards (A Grande Noite do Fado, in 1989, and Festival da Canção, in 1993) and performed several highly successful performances as a leading artist in musical theatre. He also voiced some characters in well-known films such as “The Little Mermaid”, “The Prince of Egypt”, “Mullan”, “Rapunzel”, among others. Ricardo Mestre, whose stage name is Meestre, is a young singer, composer and trumpeter from the municipality, who fuses the soul of a pop sound with the musical intensity of melodies immortalised in time and cherished by so many dreams. He became known on the program The Voice Portugal when he performed the song «I Will Always Love You», a performance that has more than 16 million views on YouTube.
Finally, on the 27th, Sunday, at 10 am, there will be a concert by the Seixal Rock Studies Association. It is worth mentioning that this association was founded in 2012 and promotes the teaching and dissemination of rock culture. The main areas he teaches at his music school are: guitar, drums, bass, keyboard, vocals and combo.
