Salão Brazil, a concert hall in Coimbra, managed since 2012 by the non-profit association Jazz ao Centro Clube, presents the program for the first quarter of 2024, Luis Severo, Alabaster dePlume and Club Makumba are some of the names that will appear in the hall from Coimbra.
Luis Severo is scheduled for a presentation at Salão Brazil, on February 23rd to showcase his new album “Cedo ou Tarde”, where his music regains the company and comfort of family and nearby musicians. This album gains strength to face a world deeply divided between extremes, reflecting on the tremors of a possible apocalypse.
Entering March, Alabaster dePlume opens the month on the 1st with a concert to present his new album “Come with Fierce Grace”, released by International Anthem in September 2023. The following day, Club Makumba take over the Coimbra stage to perform live the eleven tracks from his eponymous album, resonating anthems of struggle and change with a glorious and contagious energy, capable of exorcising problems and ghosts without the need for words to convey his powerful message.
Salão Brazil, in Coimbra, is known as one of the hubs of jazz in Portugal, starting the month of January with Marcelo dos Reis “Flora“ on the 5th of January. The trio presents the new album released in October 2023 by JACC Records, the label linked to Jazz ao Centro Clube.

On January 19th, the trio Trilla/Edwards/Vicente takes the stage and, on the last weekend of the same month, it is the turn of the trio SUL (formed by Luís Figueiredo / Bernardo Moreira / Bernardo Couto) who released their first album. in November 2022, via JACC Records.
On February 9th, Anna Lundqvist Lisboa Cinco takes the stage to perform “Sou Anna”. Swedish jazz vocalist and composer Anna Lundqvist fell in love with Portugal during a short vacation in 2008 and since 2016 has adopted Lisbon as her second home. The next step was to form a band composed of Lisbon musicians (saxophonist Desidério Lázaro, pianist Daniel Bernardes, double bassist André Carvalho and drummer Joel Silva), Lisboa Cinco, which was formed shortly before the Covid-19 pandemic but which reconvened in January 2022.

On March 23rd, Salão Brazil welcomes the Lisbon quartet Apophenia, exploring a common territory between the rhythmic aspects of contemporary jazz, the harmonic approach and the freedom of total improvisation.
Salão Brazil will maintain its fortnightly “tradition” of JAM sessions throughout these three months, with a resident trio warming up at the beginning of each night. This stage aims to be a meeting point for jazz lovers, open to everyone who wishes to participate, every Thursday, from January 4, 2024.
Salão Brazil is not limited to jazz this quarter, presenting a variety of highlights such as Janeiro + Paulo Novaes (January 12), Tricycles (January 13), Zarco (February 2), Cabrita with the performance of “Umbra” ( February 3), O Gajo + Ricardo Vignini (February 4), Wakadelics (February 8), Leo Middea (February 22), Tracy Vandal + John Mercy (February 24), Dela Marmy (March 9) and Rodrigo Alarcon (March 22).

All tickets are on sale at the BOL online ticket office and at stores in downtown Coimbra: Coolaboola Colab; Gang of Four and Lucky Lux. In the room, you can purchase tickets half an hour before the start of the respective show.
