Pullmao presents their debut single “De Camino al Mar”

“De Camino al Mar” has just been released, the debut single from Pullmao, Pedro Galhoz’s new project, which ventures into instrumental music for the first time.

The song comes with a music video and is available on all digital platforms except Spotify, a decision the band made as an ethical decision: the musicians state they cannot be part of a platform whose CEO is publicly associated with financing armed conflicts. For the group, this choice is a matter of conscience and consistency with the message of peace their music seeks to convey, ensuring that if similar evidence emerges regarding other services, they will take the same stance.

“Close your eyes. Breathe. Take a deep breath, take a deep breath. Relax and let time stand still. From the desert to the sea, we find our peace. Music is part of our therapy.” It is in this spirit of introspection and journey that Pullmao presents their first song.

Described by Pedro Galhoz himself as a sonic journey, “De Camino al Mar” is an ambient track with a groove, where the sound points to “an intriguing cross between the mystical funk of Prince and the jazzy rock of Morphine (as noted by Rui Miguel Abreu), with a touch of Pink Floyd-esque guitars that expand the sonic horizon.”

The song begins with a chorus that easily evokes a spaghetti western or, due to its almost metrical cadence, could equally recall a group of slaves in a cotton field, establishing a solemn and cinematic tone. It then lets itself be carried away by the hypnotic groove of Nico Guedes’ drums, the psychedelic guitars that intertwine with Francisco Menezes’ saxophone, and the subtle fusion of synthesisers that rhythmically and melodically blend. “This is, at its core, the soundtrack of a walk through an imaginary desert, a journey towards the sea—it is being De Camino Al Mar.”

The Pullmao project stems from Pedro Galhoz’s desire to explore new creative possibilities while remaining true to his passion for guitars, psychedelic music, and cinematic environments. For this debut, the musician, composer, and producer collaborated with several national and international musicians, most notably his friend and travelling companion, Nico Guedes, who is responsible for all drums and percussion.

The technical details for this release include Pedro Galhoz on guitars and synthesisers, Nico Guedes on drums and percussion, and Francisco Menezes on baritone sax and additional vocals. The single was recorded by João Martins, Pedro Galhoz, and Nico Guedes, mixed by João Martins at Ponto Zurca Studio, and mastered by Rui Dias at Mr Master Studio. The graphic design is by Miguel Fonseca.

Pedro Galhoz is known for his work at the music agency Luckyman Music and as a musician on projects such as Pedro e os Lobos, Plástica, and LovedStone. With Pullmao, he opens a new chapter in his creative journey — a space for instrumental experimentation, where the sonic and visual journeys merge.
