PZ presents “O Vampiro Submarino”

PZ presents “O Vampiro Submarino” with the album “Tempo Para Nada” and nobody like him to explain to us what this is…

“The name of the project comes from a phrase that my father used to scare the children before they jumped into the pool: “Be careful with the Vampire Under the Sea!”

As he is one of my biggest musical influences as an enthusiast of all kinds of music, I thought it appropriate to use this underwater monster to symbolize this project. The songs came from ideas that I had playing the guitar, singing in Portuguese, drafts of melodies that have been attacking my head over the years.

From these simplistic foundations came the idea of having a jazz band to give body to the vampire manifesto. This is where my collaboration with the Small Trio with Carl Minneman on double bass, Leandro Leonet on drums, and João Salcedo on piano, who was an essential part in the arrangements of the songs and their structure. It was the ideal collaboration to give a vintage, run-of-the-mill, “Portuguese” style to our day-to-day themes in an uncomplicated and fun way with room for maneuver for the instruments to breathe. The album also features the support voices of Nena Barbosa and Daniela Maia and the trombone of João Sêco.”

A modern take on the new 1920s, “Tempo Para Nada” is now available in our Meifushop on Vinyl and Mp3 as well as on the usual streaming platforms.
