Dear Evan Hansen

The Solidarity Rehearsal of the show “Querido Evan Hansen” takes place on September 10th, at 9 pm at Maria Matos Theater. Proceeds go in full to Lucas with Strangers.

Lucas Rodrigues’ project, which is dedicated to making others happy, one stranger at a time, was born in 2021. Since then it has grown and gained repercussions, especially on social media and YouTube through videos where it is possible to follow Lucas on his mission to change the lives of the people you meet.

If art imitates life, “Dear Evan Hansen” is proof of that. An intimately contemporary musical about life and the way we live it where human relationships, in their deepest complexity and ambiguity, are the main protagonists. The search for a place in the world, acceptance and integration take shape on stage through characters whose emotions mirror ours, prevailing a touching message about the impact we can have on each other’s lives. It’s about building bonds that save us, redemption and reinvention. About the importance of creating connections in a social context that sometimes tends to distance rather than unite. About how no one is invisible and no one deserves to be forgotten. It’s about love in its most diverse amplitudes. It’s about being present.

A letter that no one should have read marks the beginning of this story where Evan, a shy, anxious teenager with integration problems, jumps from social anonymity to become the protagonist of a story that does not belong to him. Authentic, moving and inspiring, “Dear Evan Hansen” is a show that promises to leave the audience captivated from the first chord to the last.

“Querido Evan Hansen”, by Steven Levenson, is showing from September 11th at Teatro Maria Matos, in Lisbon. The staging and adaptation are signed by Rui Melo, who also took on the staging and co-adaptation of the themes from “Avenida Q”, and the adaptation of songs from “Chicago” and “Os Produtores”. Gabriela Barros, Miguel Raposo, Sílvia Filipe, Brienne Keller, Dany Duarte, Inês Pires Tavares, João Maria Cardoso and João Sá Coelho make up the cast and Artur Guimarães (“Avenida Q”, “Chicago”, “Mães”) is responsible for directing musical. The song is signed by the duo who wrote the songs for “La La Land”, Benj Pasek and Justin Paul.

“Dear Evan Hansen” is one of the most awarded shows in recent years. Throughout his career, he has won the most important awards in the industry, including, among many others, 6 Tonys, the Grammy for best musical theatre album and 3 Lawrence Olivers. A sweeping success that marked a turning point in the history of audiences on Broadway and in the places where it has been, being responsible for the paradigm shift in the public that used to go to the theatre, bringing generations together and bringing a younger group of spectators into the theatres. From the USA to the United Kingdom, passing through Brazil, Canada, Argentina, Finland, Israel, Australia, Germany and the Czech Republic. It now arrives in Portugal from the producer of “Avenida Q”, “Chicago” and “Mães”.
