Quim Barreiros and HMB are the headliners at the Ávinho Fest in Azambuja

The singer Quim Barreiros and the band HMB are the heads of this year’s edition of Ávinho, a festival that takes place in April in Azambuja, Lisbon district, to celebrate the wine tradition, according to the autarchy.

The event, which will be in its 15th edition, will take place between 12 and 14 April in the parish of Aveiras de Cima, organized by the Municipal Council of Azambuja, in partnership with the parish council and the Association Vila Museu of Wine.

To participate in the event, the visitor buys a mug of clay (2.5 euros) and can taste, free of charge, all the wines available in the various stands.

“It is an opportunity to taste the good Ribatejo wine, which is produced by dozens of winemakers who participate in this huge party,” said the mayor of Azambuja, Luís de Sousa (PS).

The mayor noted that, in addition to the wine tastings, visitors will have at their disposal several stalls with regional tidbits and “lots of street entertainment”, with musical and ethnographic shows.

The popular singer Quim Barreiros will perform on the first day of the event (12), at 24.00, and the HMB group will perform the next day.

The official start of Ávinho takes place at 6:00 p.m. on the 12th, in Praça da República, with the announcement of the winners of the county’s wine contest and with the offer of fevers, bread and wine to those present.

Other highlights of this event are the performance of some ‘bandinhas de rua’, the fado itinerant by the various cellars and the realization of the ethnographic parade ‘The Wine Cycle’.

“We have good perspectives for this edition and we hope to continue to count on the visit of thousands of people to our county,” concluded the mayor.
