Four simultaneous theater shows, music, and the launch of the book by Rita Calçada Bastos
On Thursday, at 6 pm, there is a Colloquium on the Esplanade with Rita Calçada Bastos, director of Se eu foi Nina, moderated by Ana Quintans (the text of the show will be released in this session). At 8 pm, there is music on the Esplanade with the Freirianas Guerreiras. At 9.30 pm, four shows simultaneously: At the Joaquim Benite Municipal Theater, Se eu foi Nina; at Incrível Almadense, At home, at the zoo; At Teatro Estúdio António Assunção, I am my own wife; and finally at the Romeu Correia Municipal Forum, Pasolini Museum.
How to create a Pier Paolo Pasolini Museum? To answer this question, Ascanio Celestini created Museo Pasolini, which during 2022, the year that marks the centenary of the poet’s birth, travels throughout Italy. Celestini applies again to a project the way in which it has gained prestige on the Italian stage over the last thirty years: a mixture of narrative technique with anthropological research.
On stage, the actor has an imaginary dialogue with a historian, a psychoanalyst, a writer, a reader, and someone who actually knew Pasolini. The objective is to choose such objects that can come from places as diverse as an old warehouse, a trash can, a library, or a section of lost and found objects.
Imbued with a fine irony, Ascanio Celestini answers the questions defined for any museum: research, acquisition, conservation, communication, and exhibition.
Quoting Vincenzo Cerami, one of the most famous screenwriters in the history of Italian cinema: “If we take all of Pasolini’s work, from the first poems he wrote at the age of seven to his last film, Saló or the 120 days of Sodom, we have the portrait of Italian history from the end of fascism to the second half of the seventies”.
