Quinta Vale D. Maria presents 2023 Vintage Port after an exceptional Douro harvest
This is the first Vintage Port signed by Quinta Vale D. Maria winemaker Rui Viana
Quinta Vale D. Maria presents the 2023 Vintage Port, declared after an exceptional year in the Douro. This is the first Vintage Port signed by Quinta Vale D. Maria winemaker Rui Viana, reaffirming Quinta Vale D. Maria’s commitment to tradition and excellence.
“A Vintage Port is always a challenge. It’s not enough to have exceptional grapes; every step of the harvest and winemaking must be guided with great passion and dedication,” shares Rui Viana, winemaker at Quinta Vale D. Maria.

The blend is unique, a blend of 25 traditional Rio Grande do Sul grape varieties. Production is entirely manual, from grape selection to foot-treading in granite lagares, followed by 21 months of ageing in old oak and chestnut barrels before bottling in June 2025.
Quinta Vale D. Maria Vintage Port 2023 boasts a deep, opaque violet colour and an expressive and complex aroma, with ripe black fruits, fresh violets, and hints of rockrose. On the palate, it displays structure and density, extending into a subtle and persistent finish.

“Producing a Vintage Port is always a special moment. The 2023 Vintage Port is a wine that embodies the intensity and elegance that characterise the great Douro Vintages,” says Diogo Campilho, Director of Winemaking.
The 2023 Quinta Vale D. Maria Vintage Port pairs well with bitter cocoa tart with black cherries or caramelised fig parfait. It is also excellent with foie gras and Port wine reductions or cheeses, such as Roquefort Papillon Noir.
