Rain will give way to good weather with thermometers pointing to 35ºC

Each week, its sentence. In terms of meteorology, it is at this stage that we are. It’s raining and it’s cold, now it’s warm enough for the next season.

It is not yet today that good weather returns, but you can begin to prepare for what comes next. The weekend will be sunny and a significant rise in temperature, with thermometers expected to rise to 35 ° C on Sunday.

For this Wednesday, the Portuguese Institute of the Sea and Atmosphere (IPMA) predicts for the continental territory sky generally very cloudy, gradually decreasing of cloudiness from the afternoon, and periods of rain, happening to the regime of weak and infrequent showers from the afternoon. A scenario that will remain until Friday, day in which the temperatures will begin to rise.

If today’s maximum temperatures do not exceed 22 ° C, for example in Faro and Beja (the hottest districts) and 13 ° C in Guarda (cooler district), the scenery changes completely at the weekend.

For Lisbon, a maximum of 26ºC and 34ºC are planned, Saturday and Sunday, always with the sun shining. South in Faro, the thermometers will rise to 31ºC and 29ºC, respectively, and in Beja until 31ºC and 35ºC, the same is expected to happen in Évora. Also, Setúbal and Santarém are expected to reach 35ºC on Sunday. Portalegre is expected to reach 31ºC maximum.

In Leiria, the IPMA forecasts maximum temperatures of 23ºC on Saturday and 31ºC on Sunday. A similar situation is expected in Coimbra. For Aveiro are expected 20ºC on Saturday, and 30ºC on Sunday, a difference of 10ºC from one day to the next. For the Port are predicted maximums of 21ºC and 28ºC.

The Guarda district, on Sunday, the hottest day, will not exceed 26ºC but are still 13ºC higher than the maximum registered on Wednesday.

Also with the sun to the mix, Braga will arrive at 26ºC and 30ºC of maximum at the weekend, Viseu at 24ºC and 27ºC, Castelo Branco at 29ºC and 32ºC, Viana do Castelo at 21ºC and 28ºC and Bragança at 24ºC and 27ºC.

Given this scenario, is it safe to decree the end of the rain? For the next week, yes. It should be noted that although the April rainfall has receded the drought in Portugal, environmentalists remain uncertain about the warmer months. So if you come, you will be welcome.
