The 19th edition of the ACP Classics Rally crossed the municipalities of Mafra, Sobral de Monte Agraço, and Arruda dos Vinhos, in a Historic Regularity event that mixed beautiful landscapes and competition.
The ACP Classics Rally confirmed that a Historic Regularity event can have uncertainty and excitement until the end. More than sixty teams, behind the wheel of cars from different eras, travelled 135 kilometres on the roads of the West region and Vale do Tejo, with the start and finish in the municipality of Mafra, and specials in the municipalities of Sobral de Monte Agraço and Arruda dos Vinhos.
In total, there were nine Special Classification Stages (PEC), passing through places with history in national motorsport, such as Gradil or Sobral de Abelheira.
With the teams divided into five categories, according to the year of manufacture of the automobile, Frederico Valsassina and Vasco Mendes won in Category E, with a 1960 Jaguar Mk II; Evandro and Adriana Gueiros triumphed in Category F, with a 1970 Porsche 911E; Gonçalo Ribeiro Pinto and António Leal Machado won Category G, with a 1973 BMW 3.0 CSI; Paulo Trindade and Tiago Moura won Category H, with a 1989 BMW E30; and Jorge and Raquel Pais claimed victory in Category FC with a 1991 Mini Cooper 1300.
To give an idea of the level of preparation of the teams and the competitiveness in the ACP Classics Rally, if there were a joint classification for all categories, Paulo Trindade and Tiago Moura would have won the event with a narrow advantage of just 0.7 points over the second-placed, Gonçalo Pinto and António Machado, while Frederico Valsassina and Vasco Mendes would place a 64-year-old Jaguar on the absolute podium, just 2.5 points from victory!
The next organization of the ACP Classics will be the Historic Portugal Rally, whose 18th edition takes place between September 23 and 28.
